About 37% of African American males worked full time compared to 47% of all males. In 2021 full time Black males had median earnings of $46,065 compared to $60,428 for ‘all men’ (below table). Of Black men ages 16 to 64 years old, 41% had no earnings in 2021 which was higher than the 30% of ‘all men’ with no earnings in the same age group.

About three-in-ten Black Hispanic people (29%) live in female-headed households, and 5% live in households headed by male householders. One-in-ten Black Hispanic people live in non-family households.

Other top states of residence include New York (3.4 million) and California (2.8 million).
In the 2020 Census, 46,936,733 respondents identified as Black or African American alone or in combination, the third largest race group. For the first time in decennial census history, there was a Black or African American write-in area with detailed examples for people to report detailed responses.
