Specific to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, this pattern is also known as Trip Around the World to the Mennonite community, and Sunshine & Shadows to the Amish community. It is made by sewing together hundreds of tiny squares in rows of contrasting colors to form diamond shapes.
Linking Hearts was designed by Mabel Burkholder, a Mennonite woman from Lancaster County Pennsylvania, for Log Cabin Quilt Shop. This original design uses over 200 different fabrics, including many Christmas prints.
Simple and elegant! A traditional nine patch pattern in tan and black. The back of the quilt is covered with an absolutely gorgeous black leafy print fabric. Be sure to notice the incredibly fine hand quilting. Well made by Pennsylvania Mennonite quilt maker, Connie Lapp, and hand quilted by a Mennonite friend.
