  1. 1 Ιαν 2011 · #1. I found a recipe for a homemade blackpowder solvent, can't remember where but here it is. Mix up a pint or more of the following: 2 parts hydrogen peroxide, 2 parts alcohol (methyl or isopropyl), and one part Murphy's Oil Soap. Use as a bore solvent and parts wash.

  5. 4 Μαρ 2007 · The best solvent I know of for black powder is water, but that won't get you anywhere with the lube. I bet you'd like to find a lube solvent that also happens to work on black powder. I doubt it will work on synthetic lubes, but mild soap is great for the olive oil, crisco, tallow and mink oil grease lubes I've used.

  6. 17 Φεβ 2011 · Why is it that some people try to sell others on the suggestion that black powder needs more than just water for a solvent? I mean - it doesn't even need soap - just plain tap water - and COLD water at that.

  7. 8 Ιουλ 2007 · The problem comes when it is plastic, lead, and copper fowling you need to clean. Then you will need a brass bore brush and some good solvent like Butch's Bore Cleaner, Hoppies Black Powder Solvent, or Birchwood Casey Bore Cleaner.
