The Highland Scenic Highway is a beautiful corridor through Monongahela National Forest. This designated National Scenic Byway extends 43 miles from Richwood to US Route 219, north of Marlinton, WV. It has four developed scenic overlooks. Each site provides a comfortable rest stop, with a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains and valleys.

29 Ιουλ 2016 · There’s not another highway in West Virginia that offers such continuous vistas. Nevertheless, as the Parkway crosses such high elevations, it creates and accesses some unique environs for plant communities. Wildflowers and meadows thrive in the abundant rainfall of the high country.
Blue Racers, for example are common around the Great Lakes region. The snakes best known as Black racers inhabit most areas in the East from southern Maine to the Florida Keys. They are long, thin snakes with a black body, and as the picture highlights, white chins.

28 Ιουλ 2016 · Two week ago we cruised the Highland Scenic Highway again and found plenty of wildflower action. Found a nice patch of Wild Columbine on the east side of the road just a little south of the Highway's junction with FS #461. This is close to the North Fork Trailhead (TR 272).
