With stunning views of the wild Atlantic coast and islands at the halfway point of the Slea Head Drive, the Blasket Centre is a fascinating heritage and cultural centre/ museum, honouring the unique community who lived on the remote Blasket Islands until their evacuation in 1953.
Located 16km from Dingle, the Blasket Centre is easily accessible by car (R559), by travelling the Slea Head Drive, with parking available on-site. For those using public transport, the Local Link Kerry website provides up-to-date travel information.
The Center is located directly across from the Great Blasket Island which was evacuated in the 50's due to low population. There are views of the homes that still remain and the Center educates the visitor on the history of the Blasket Islands and the surrounding mainland.
