Be Patient is the 15th episode in the sixth season of "ER". It's tough times for Carter who is in rehab, still recovering from his near-death experience at the hands of a psychotic patient and who's also struggling to come to terms with Lucy's death.
Medical student Lucy Knight (Kellie Martin) begins her studies in the ER. As she spends time learning the layout and staff of the ER, we learn of Dr. Anna Del Amico's departure. Carter is reminded of himself as he watches Knight learn and practice.
Although Weaver and Dr. Elizabeth Corday are able to stabilize Lucy in the ER, and Corday and Dr. Robert Romano are then able to repair her tissue damage, she soon develops complications, including a pulmonary embolism. Despite the heroic efforts of Drs. Corday and Romano, Lucy dies while in the catheter lab awaiting a Greenfield filter.
