Bicycles are prohibited from operating on the main inbound and outbound airport roadways (R1), however, North and South McDonnell Road offer good bicycle access with a marked route into the airport beginning at San Bruno Avenue from the north, and Millbrae Avenue from the south.
You’ll need to rent bikes in San Francisco or Sausalito and then ride to the Bridge. It’s about an 8 mile trip starting from Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco and biking the Golden Gate Bridge to the Ferry pier in Sausalito.
8 Miles. Level 1 of 9. Our main shop at 425 Jefferson Street is conveniently located in Fisherman’s Wharf, just half a block from the start of the Golden Gate Promenade Bike Path, and the start of the best urban bike ride in the world: the eight mile ride over the Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito.
Bikes are allowed on escalators throughout the BART system with the exception of ten narrow escalators located at the following three stations: 19th Street Oakland, Antioch and Oakland Airport Connector. Please see the video below for tips on how to safely bring bikes on BART escalators.
Parking for bicycles for up to 14 days. Bicycles parked for more than 24 hours must be registered.
