Our current plan is to release episodes of The BoardGameGeek Show on a fortnightly basis, alternating with new episodes of GameNight!
Short answer: No. Longer answer: Familiarity with the show will definitely improve your appreciation for the game. I'd recommend watching at least the pilot and the first episode ("33"). That should suffice to get you a feel for the show (and how well the theme is done in the game).
