See the ruinous castle interior. Bodiam Castle is steeped in mediaeval history. Though the outer shell of the fortress remains intact, the interior is in a state of disrepair. Despite this, however, there is enough of the structure remaining to determine a rough layout of the site. Visitors can also climb the towers using a spiral staircase.
The interior of Bodiam Castle is mostly in ruins today, but once featured separate domestic areas for all key players: the family, esteemed visitors, the army garrison and, of course, servants.
Today much of the castle interior is lost. Nobody can be certain when Bodiam Castle stopped being a home, and there is no evidence of a siege. The castle may have slowly fallen into disrepair during the 15th-17th centuries, when owned by a series of absent landlords.
