The Book of Thoth is absolutely indispensable to the serious student of the Thoth Tarot. It is the ultimate source of ideas about the Thoth deck. Just buy it, buy it, buy it!!! Now a word of warning. Most modern Tarot books are written for as wide an audience as possible.
All you really need (at most) is the deck, The Book of Thoth, DuQuette Understanding The Thoth tarot and Snuffin's Thoth Companion. In the meantime, this page might clarify things while you're waiting for them to arrive.
20 Οκτ 2024 · I'd pass on the Holistic Tarot w/ the Thoth, and dive into Duquette and the Book of Thoth itself. I think those in your cart are excellent starting points, and could theoretically last you years of study.
The Book of Thoth is the first direct evidence for something in Egyptian literature likely to lie in the background of the Greek Hermetica as it also contains dialogues between a spiritual master, maybe the God Thoth, and a student who is about the start on the Way of Thoth (like Tat).
As others have said, the Book of Thoth is the indeed the definitive reference for the Thoth deck. Since I already have enough(!) books on basic Tarot (Pollack, Greer etc.), I also use Banzhaf's "Keywords for the Crowley Tarot" book.
