CDC developed the Booster Seat Planning Guide to assist States, Tribes, Localities, and Territories (STLTs) with assessing, planning, and implementing improved booster seat laws to reduce crash injuries and deaths among children.
Vehicle Seat Location Requirements Children are safer when properly restrained in rear vehicle seating positions. Whenever possible secure the Graco booster seat in the center position of the seat directly behind the front seats. However, this position is often equipped with a lap belt only and cannot be used. The vehicle seat MUST face forward.
Direction. Place the belt-positioning booster seat forward-facing and flat on the vehicle seat. Confirm the child has appropriate head support from the car seat head restraint or the vehicle seat or vehicle’s head restraint. Location. Select a seating position with a lap and shoulder belt.
2. Secure the child restraint system’s head support using the head support fixing strap, and use the lower fixing strap to secure the child restraint system to vehicle’s seat. 3. Attach the buckles, and snugly fit the child restraint system seat into the vehicle seat while pulling both adjuster straps tightly to remove all slack.
