In the Cardiovascular Health Study (CHS) -- a community-based, longitudinal study of the elderly -- cluster analysis was used to characterize patterns of findings on cranial magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and to define five clusters: Normal, Atrophy, Simple Infarct, Leukoaraiosis, and Complex Infarct. 1 Compared to the other clusters, the ...
11 Μαρ 2024 · Sliding-window analysis indicated the association between hypertension and brain aging acceleration was moderated by chronological age, showing stronger correlations in midlife but weaker associations in the older age. CONCLUSIONS: Compared with GM, WM was more vulnerable to raised BP.
Normal aging involves multiple overlapping processes occurring in brain structure that can be quantitatively assessed using MRI, PET, and other imaging methods, and can inform the study of cognitive aging when judiciously used in conjunction with careful cognitive testing.
12 Οκτ 2000 · The authors summarize the aging brain mechanism and effects of aging on the brain observed by brain structural MR imaging and advanced neuroimaging techniques, such as diffusion tensor imaging and functional MR imaging.
17 Απρ 2019 · Purpose: To analyze the relationship between blood pressure (BP) variables, including circadian pattern, and cognition in 90+ year-olds. Methods: Twenty-four hour ambulatory BP monitoring was completed on 121 participants drawn from a longitudinal study of aging and dementia in the oldest-old. Various measures of BP and its variability ...
22 Αυγ 2019 · This chapter describes typical structural brain changes seen on imaging studies in “normal” aging and includes practical guidelines for application in daily clinical neuroradiology practice to identify abnormality.
4 Αυγ 2022 · We provide a descriptive review of the topography of the normal and abnormal brain with illustrative images of different structures visible on B-mode cranial ultrasound in the critically ill population.
