27 Δεκ 2008 · Add a recoil reducer, quality fiber optic open sites, or a red dot. A fully rifled barrel is necessary for modern saboted slugs, not a rifled choke tube and not a smooth bore. Feed it good quality saboted slugs in the 275-300gr range. Sauvestres or Winchester Platinums are my recommendation.

The Black Magic Magnum is a 602-grain slug that carries 3,000 ft.-lbs. of energy at 1500 fps, while the 495-grain DDupleks leaves the muzzle at 1410 fps with 2,180 ft.-lbs. of energy.
5 Ιαν 2014 · As you observed, a Winchester Super X hollow point rifled slug is inadequate for bear defense. Even a moderately hardened Brenneke Black Magic rifled slug might glance off the bear's skull, or just flatten out and not penetrate his skull.
