A bird to be seen in the full sun, the male Brewer’s Blackbird is a glossy, almost liquid combination of black, midnight blue, and metallic green. Females are a staid brown, without the male’s bright eye or the female Red-winged Blackbird’s streaks.
The female is brownish-grey with slight hints of the male's iridescence. The female's eye is dark brown, while the male's is bright yellow. Overall, they resemble the eastern member of the same genus, the rusty blackbird; Brewer's blackbird, however, has a shorter bill and the male's head is iridescent purple. [2]
POWERED BY MERLIN. Breeding males are glossy black with purplish head and greenish sheen on body. Nonbreeding males have pale eyebrows and staring yellow eye. Females are plain dark brown and typically have dark eyes. Forages by walking on ground.

The female Brewer’s is darker and browner, with dull green gloss on the wings, than the female rusty, which has grayish color, particularly the rump.

1 Μαρ 2023 · The Brewer’s Blackbird is a medium-sized blackbird with a dark, sharp beak, and a longish, squared tail. Males are glossy black with pale eyes, and females are dark, brownish-gray with dark eyes. Brewer’s Blackbirds breed from British Columbia east to Ontario, and south to California and New Mexico.
