Anatomy of the Trachea, Carina, and Bronchi. Douglas J. Minnich, MD ∙ Douglas J. Mathisen, MD dmathisen@partners.org. Download PDF. Abstract. This article summarizes the pertinent points of tracheal and bronchial anatomy, including the relationships to surrounding structures.
The descriptions of tracheal and main bronchial anatomy, as well as the branching patterns of main lobar bronchi are well known in clinical practice. To simplify the understanding of segmental and subsegmental bronchial branching, several systems have been described.
1 Μαΐ 2021 · In order to understand the bronchial variations its normal anatomy has to bear in mind: The lobar bronchus of the RUL forms a trifurcation: the apical (B1), posterior (B2) and anterior (B3) bronchi. The bronchus of the middle lobe (ML) bifurcates into lateral (B4) and medial (B5) bronchi.
17 Απρ 2024 · Carina of trachea. Structures of the larynx, trachea and bronchi seen from an anterior and posterior views. The carina of the trachea is a cartilaginous projection of the last tracheal ring, found at the bifurcation of the trachea into the left and right main (primary/principal) bronchi.

Example of description of smaller carinae. Abbreviations for bronchi are as shown in Figure 1. Common anatomic arrangement of three minor carinae in right upperlobe.
