19 Ιουν 2014 · Guides & tours: It truly depends on your guide. The Free Bruges walking tour tends to be good quality. Party & drinks. First of all: Bruges is not a party city. Ghent, and Leuven are. Bruges has some cafés that play loud music and attract teenagers. They are located at ‘t Zand and the Eiermarkt, main party evenings are Friday and Saturday.
I was in Bruges about 15 years ago for the last time. It's gorgeus, and the friends we were visiting were incredibly nice. My favourite memory however, was when my parents (who have always had a kind of "fuck authority!" take on life), took me to the water ditch around the castle in Bruges in broad daylight to fish for carps.
Bruges is on my bucket list for sure, many Belgians recommended me to go there. And if it's at least as nice as Antwerp, which I got a decent taste of during a 2-week business trip, I'm sure I'll be satisfied
I grew up in the Netherlands and spent a lot of time in Belgium, my advise: Go to Bruges and visit nearby Ghent during the same stay. Try the local stew, beer, fries and cuberdons. Waffles come in two varieties: Brussels and Liege, Liege waffles are by far superior.
I always see day trip recommendations for Bruges, but for me, the most enjoyable part was having the city fairly empty in the morning and evening without the day-trippers. I'd also recommend seeing Ghent!

15 Νοε 2016 · Ghent at least has an exciting cultural life: 40.000 uni students, tons of clubs and music venues, way more varied exhibitions than Bruges; the list goes on. Is Bruges prettier? Sure. But apart from that Ghent easily outranks Bruges on about every level.
9 Φεβ 2015 · We had heard lots of great things from friends about Belgium and Bruges in particular. I checked r/Belgium to find a brilliant guide to Bruges curated by redditor Knoflookperser, with contributions from the wider community. This guide is really a big thank you to Knoflookperser and anyone that helped with his excellent post! The link to this ...
Bruges is much more enchanting than Brussels, and in my opinion, has better beer bars - smaller, more homely and with some amazing local brews (De Garre, especially). Plus, Jan De Clerk makes arguably the best price-to-quality ratio chocolates in all of Belgium. Def worth a visit.
