IU Retiree Status Eligibility. Those with IU Retiree Status at the time of separation are entitled to certain benefits and privileges including life insurance, healthcare coverage, and the IU Tuition Benefit. To qualify for IU Retiree Status you must satisfy the below listed age and service criteria.

Retirement Benefit. Eligible employees must participate in the State Universities Retirement System (SURS) and must make a one-time irrevocable election among three available retirement benefit plans within six months of their date of eligibility.
