He admits failures and shortcomings, but it was always not for lack of trying. This is actually one of the themes of the book. The "decision points" are major crossroads at which he had to make crucial choices without the lens of history and hindsight to act.
I just finished Decision Points and found it thoroughly engaging. I’ve been reading reviews of the book and every now and then I see references to Christopher Michel, the alleged ‘ghostwriter’.
