There are button hole markings on the pattern for you to follow on the Olya shirt. However you should always customise the size of your button holes to match your buttons. Generally speaking your button hole should be around 3mm up to 5mm bigger than your button depending on the thickness of the button.
31 Μαΐ 2019 · To make sure the button hole sews straight, I just make sure the side of my placket is straight along the side of the presser foot or aligned with a mark on the machine (washi tape is good for this if you need a clear line). Then, the machine does its magic!
To do this, wrap a thin strip of paper around the button. Use a pin to mark where the ends meet. Lay the paper flat and measure the distance from the pin to the fold. Add 1/8” to this measurement if you have a thicker button or one with a shank. You can also simply measure the diameter of the button and add the thickness of a button.

27 Νοε 2021 · If you are sewing using a sewing pattern, you should be able to transfer the suggested buttonhole placement markings onto your fabric easily. However, if you are using a button in a different size from the one suggested by the sewing pattern, you may have to re-draw the positions of your buttonholes.
