There is no legal way to digitally purchase the Sims 2. It is considered abandonware, and thus the ethics of downloading are murky. But that said, the game is amazing, and EA would be making buckets if they just released it. Now, I do suggest you use a VPN and a trusted source to get the game.

Check both sites for the best price, as it varies depending on what’s currently available. For the best deal, look for bundled editions like Double Deluxe and then purchase other must-have expansions separately.
The Sims 2 is no longer available digitally through Origin for purchase- if you do not already own The Ultimate Collection in Origin, the only way to play is through the disk version.
17 Αυγ 2021 · Firstly, you’ll need to locate The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection in your Origin Game Library. Once you have found it, click on the game box art and then hit download. You’ll then be presented with a series of pop-up boxes.
You can purchase Sims 2 for consoles through second-hand sellers (eBay/CEX if in UK). If you’re looking for PC, the answer would be the same. If you have a Mac, the App Store has Sims 2 Ultimate Collection which you can purchase for £28.99 and it includes a lot of the expansion packs in this price. Hope this helps :)
