Schedule H (Form 990) is a new schedule and must be completed by an organization that operates at least one facility that is, or is required to be, licensed, registered, or similarly recognized by a state as a hospital. For 2008, organizations are required to complete Part V, Facility Information, and may complete the other parts of the schedule.

Most private hospitals in the United States are recognized as tax-exempt, chari-table organizations, are required to file Form 990, and will be re-quired to file Schedule H, beginning in 2009 (for the 2008 tax year).
