The apocryphal Books of Enoch and of Jubilees, dating from Maccabean times in the second century before Christ, mention a solar year of 364 days containing exactly 52 weeks.
The Book of Jubilees was written with the sole purpose of imposing a new, yearly calendar of 364 days on the Jewish people toward the end of the second century B.C. 2 The year was made up of 364 days and was divisible by seven, so that every feast fell on the same day of the week.
