- State Minimum Course Requirements
Minimum set of courses required for high school graduation. Beginning in the 1986–87 school year, CaliforniaEducation Code (EC)Section 51225.3 has specified a minimum set of courses to meet state requirements to graduate from high school and receive a diploma.
To meet minimum admission requirements, you must complete 15 yearlong high school courses with a letter grade of C or better — at least 11 of them prior to your last year of high school. Keep in mind that taking high school (A-G) courses isn't the only way to satisfy these requirements.

To be admitted to a California State University (CSU) or University of California (UC) campus, you must complete California's minimum high school graduation requirements and the A-G requirements (a sequence of courses) while in high school.
