Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) and Psychiatric Technicians (PTs) are required to renew their license every two years. Satisfactory completion of continuing education (CE) is required for an "active" license in addition to a social security number.

Post-Licensure & Renewal. Application for Renewal. The purpose of the Board's licensing program is to protect the health, safety and welfare of California consumers who receive health care from LVNs and PTs.
The Centralized Applications Branch is responsible for issuing license renewals to facilities with an existing license. A License Renewal application with an invoice is distributed to the licensee 120 days prior to the license expiration date.
