The model content standards provide guid-ance for developing physical education pro-grams by identifying what each student in California should know and be able to do at each grade level. With adequate instruction and sustained effort, students in every school should be able to achieve the standards.

Prospective physical education teachers in Florida are required to take three Florida Teacher Certification Examinations (FTCE) to become certified. These include the General Knowledge (GK), Physical Education K-12 (063), and Professional Education tests.
Pass your state’s required certification exams. To become a certified Physical Education teacher, you must take at least two certification exams: one for general teaching practices and one specific to physical education.
