If you have a Microsoft 365 subscription, check the following folder locations for backup files: C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Word.
Start Word and try to open the temporary file via File | Open. You should also search for any left-over files with the asd extension (these are AutoRecover files). Try to open these in the same manner.

If you change the tmp file's extension to doc, docx or docm, depending on the type of document it was based on, you may be able to open it. However, some tmp files are 0 bytes long, and don't have any content; others have no meaningful content.
