1 Απρ 2020 · Can I breastfeed while taking metronidazole? Metronidazole gets into breast milk in relatively large amounts. However, the amount in breastmilk is below the dose given to treat young infants who were able to tolerate this drug. Amounts in breast milk would be lower with vaginal or topical use.
It's OK to take metronidazole while you're breastfeeding. When metronidazole is taken by mouth, as suppositories, or injected, it passes into breast milk in fairly small amounts. It's unlikely to cause side effects in your baby, but a few babies have had diarrhoea.
15 Σεπ 2024 · Topical or vaginal use of metronidazole during breastfeeding is unlikely to be of concern, although the manufacturer of one vaginal product recommends not breastfeeding during treatment and for 2 days after the last dose.
22 Δεκ 2023 · No side effects were reported in the majority of infants exposed to metronidazole in breast milk. In one study, 35 newborn infants were exposed to metronidazole in breast milk (doses and administration routes not stated).
