It is your responsibility to ensure you have the appropriate immigration status to complete the transitional education required to be eligible for registration in British Columbia, and to be able to legally work in Canada if you successfully complete all registration requirements.
New programs that meet the Program Approval criteria will first receive a preliminary approval status, with a comprehensive assessment to be completed in subsequent years. Graduates from a preliminary approved program are eligible to register with CNO.
The main steps in the registration process include: Agree to the online Consent Request. Complete the Application Form. Collect the required documents, including documents confirming your identity and your education. Complete the online payment for the application process. Print the required secondary forms.
Check the status of your application regularly and monitor your progress. Make sure documents you believe were submitted on your behalf have been received by NNAS. Focus on the province where you plan to live and work.
An ECA confirms that you graduated from an accredited nursing education program and determines the general academic level of the credential in Canada. The ECA can be obtained through the credential assessment organizations designated by IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada).
If an assessment of your education finds that you demonstrate the required nursing knowledge, skill and judgment to meet the nursing education requirement, you will be eligible to write the registration exam.
