The FCDS has been collecting cancer incidence data from hospitals since 1981 and from non-hospital sources (i.e., ambulatory surgical centers, radiation therapy centers, pathology laboratories and private physician ofices) since 1997.
In 2021, the age-adjusted rate per 100,000 of Cancer Incidence in Alachua County was 473.7 compared to Florida at 471. The line graph shows change over time when there are at least three years of data.

A confirmed cancer cluster is a relatively rare occurrence and few documented clusters have been able to be linked to an environmental agent. To be a cancer cluster, a group of cancer cases must meet the following criteria.
The focus of this paper is on reports of investigations that examined geographic or community clusters of cancer, and specifically on those investigations that are initiated because of a perception of increased cancer rates in a community.
