23 Ιουλ 2024 · Spondylosis in dogs. Spondylosis or spondylosis deformans is a degenerative process that affects the dog's spine. The causes of spondylosis is not well known and it is often asymptomatic in dogs.
Spondylosis Deformans. Dogs may be asymptomatic for this condition, but sometimes can present as follows: Obvious bone spurs along spine. Pain resulting from bone spurs pressing on vertebral ligaments or spinal nerve roots. Pain evident in hind leg motion. Lumbosacral Stenosis.
Spondylosis deformans is characterized by the production of bony growths along the underside of the spinal vertebrae. It develops as dogs age, and 25%–70% of 9-year-old dogs are affected. It is especially common in Boxers. It does not typically cause signs, but dogs may experience back pain in rare cases.
