17 Ιουλ 2018 · In dogs, spondylosis deformans occurs most often along lower back (lumbar) vertebrae. In cats, it tends to occur more often in the chest (thoracic) vertebrae. Signs and Symptoms. Most affected animals show no signs, although the pet owner may be able to feel the bone spur.
Spondylosis deformans occurs in dogs, cats, and bulls, and the incidence increases with age. It is uncommon in dogs < 2 years old; by 9 years of age, 25%–70% of all dogs are affected. It is especially common in Boxers, and a genetic predisposition has been identified in this breed.
