Fractures of the proximal ulna can be divided into articular fractures involving the semilunar notch of the ulna, or avulsion fractures involving the olecranon process (Muir & Johnson, 1996). In both fracture types the olecranon process is distracted by the strong pull of the triceps group of muscles.
