In fact the camera drains 2 new CR123A batteries within a day just by sitting turned off. I just inserted two new ones 2 hours ago and they already went from 3.25v down to 2.9v. I also measured the camera and it seems to draw 0.25v when turned off. Any ideas what might cause this?

If the battery is left in the camera for a prolonged period without the camera being used, a low electrical current may be discharged excessively and the battery’s service life may be affected. Page 24: Installing And Removing The Battery
22 Δεκ 2001 · My D30 has recently started having a problem where the battery completely drains while the camera is off (it happens after about 2-3 days of being turned off). Has anyone seen this or had this happen to their D30?

30 Μαρ 2014 · The only issue we have heard so far about the 6D is that if you leave the GPS on, it will drain battery even if the camera is OFF. So be certain that your GPS is off. Otherwise, you may have a faulty battery.
14 Ιουν 2016 · For non-GPS equipped cameras, the circuitry driving the display seems to be the second largest item draining battery. The more you review your images and the longer you do it for, the shorter the battery charge will last.
