North Carolina is one of the worst states in the country for the euthanasia of shelter animals according to a national study. We’re working to change that by saving the greatest number of lives possible and by going above and beyond for each animal in our care. We hope you’ll join us in this effort! We are 100% volunteer run, 501c3 nonprofit, nationwide, animal rescue for the breed Carolina Dogs. We are foster and volunteer based and shelter free. Our rescues are pulled from kill shelters, off the streets, or are dogs that need to be rehomed so they never have to see the inside of the shelter.
At Carolina Animal Rescue and Adoption (CARA). we are dedicated to finding permanent and loving families for the homeless dogs and cats of North Carolina. CARA began rescuing homeless animals in April 2003, and have placed countless animals in wonderful homes across the country.
Our mission is to rescue dogs of all breeds and ages from high-risk environments in the Carolinas, including kill shelters, substandard backyard breeders, hoarders, abusive households, and owners facing life crises that impact the welfare of their dogs.
We are a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization committed to saving neglected, unwanted, stray or abused dogs in North Carolina and surrounding areas and finding them happy, safe homes with new, loving families.
