The Carrion Fields is a multi-user dungeon created by Yuval Oren (Derit), Matt Hamby (Rahvin/ShaidarHaran/BoltThrower) and Barbara Hamby (née Hargrove) (Galadriel/Nordewin) in January of 1994. Based on ROM 2.3, it first opened to the public on March 17th, 1994.

Hello and welcome to the Carrion Fields Quick-Start for Newbies guide. The purpose of this guide is to help players that are either new to Carrion Fields, or completely new to MUD games, get a basic understanding of how to get started in the Carrion Fields world.
Among the fields you will find an entertaining fantasy experience that is 100% free! We boast a genuine experience based on player driven, immortal enforced, roleplaying-focused interactions. Our players have been enjoying this in-depth experience for over 25 years!
Races, classes, and cabals all have subsequent pages with more information. If you can't find what you need here, please try the Wiki, Forums, or one of the unofficial resources; and of course, you can always ask in-game on the Newbie Channel. Races Top
Carrion Fields is COMPLETELY free to play. No pay-for-perks arms races, no hidden subscriptions, no trial periods. While our extensive commerce system makes copper coins coveted within the game, real-life money won't do you a cent of good. Don't be fooled by games that say "free" but don't mean it! This MUD appeared to be ACTIVE at last check.
First, if you're using Mudlet, hopefully you're using the built-in CF skin (if you have the current version of Mudlet, you'll see Carrion Fields as one of the default options). One of our Imms built that skin and it makes life far easier.
