8 Ιουν 2022 · In addition to demonstrating a high incidence of alcohol use in the military, the papers reported evidence of associations between alcohol use and factors such as age, service type, active deployment, combat exposure, mental health, and relationship status.
8 Φεβ 2022 · Excessive alcohol use, especially binge and heavy drinking, represents a serious threat to force readiness across the Department of Defense. Though these behaviors are a matter of individual service member choice, they are influenced by perceptions of the culture of alcohol use in the military.
The focal analysis examined differences in current alcohol problems at first follow-up based upon military status (current soldier, previous soldier, civilian spouses), controlling for participant sex and alcohol consumption at baseline. The model also examined the interaction between military status and sex.
These data suggest that female military reservists may be prone to abuse alcohol as a way of coping with depression symptoms that are secondary to experiencing military sexual harassment. Does Heritability Play a Role in Military Members’ Alcohol Misuse and Posttraumatic Psychiatric Disorders?
