What are the functions of the pancreas? The pancreas has both exocrine and endocrine function. This chapter is devoted to the exocrine functions of the pancreas. The exocrine function is devoted to secretion of digestive enzymes, ions and water into the intestine of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract.
