As part of the interview above, Skeet also confirms that the deal with Netflix to purchase the show and produce it going forward was done, and then CBS pulled out at the last second. But Netflix was willing to take it.
Jericho ran from September 20, 2006, to March 25, 2008, on CBS. It was cancelled after its first full season because of low ratings. A fan campaign persuaded the network to bring the show back for another season, of seven episodes, after which it was cancelled again.
The reason for the rushed ending was that the show was actually cancelled after the first season due to poor ratings. However, it was a cult hit and a number of fans protested the network to get another season commissioned. This happened; it got another 7 episodes.
