The Centralia Historical Society is an essential resource for anyone interested in the history of Centralia and the surrounding areas. The society's museum, events, and programs provide visitors with a unique opportunity to learn about the city's past and the people who shaped it.
The Centralia Historical Society is housed in a Victorian (Queen Anne Style) house that was built in 1904 by Centralia Pharmacist, R. L. Hope and his wife Belle Downing Hope. In 1908, it was purchased by Charles Early family, bank president.
The Centralia Museum is Rich in History. Many items in the house belonged to the Chance family with the balance of items having been donated by area residents. A great example of Chance family items is the Three Graces marble statuary that was made especially to sit under the front staircase.
