An airport Compass Rose is used to calibrate the aircraft magnetic compass. It is also a unique airfield identifier. The NAAREF Compaass Rose Series is designed to help people identify their needs and goals and then navigate agricultural aviation.
7.1 Compass Rose Procedure. A properly surveyed compass calibration pad, also called a compass rose, constructed to applicable FAA standards may be used to determine alignment of an aircraft compass with the Earth’s magnetic field. Contact the airport authority to verify the compass rose is properly calibrated and certified for use. 7.1.1

A certified compass calibration pad is a dedicated area inside the airport premises, which is suitable for performing aircraft compass swings. Swings involve rotating the whole aircraft to known magnetic azimuths and, for each orientation, observing the compass deviations.
8 Αυγ 2006 · OK does the FAA maintain a list of compass roses? I looked in the chart supplement, checked the FAA website, and even looked at the 99s website. No one lists any locations for compass roses. I know that there is one locally at Hartford (KHXF), but I was wondering if there were any other ones nearby.
It outlines five acceptable methods for performing a "compass swing" to minimize errors from aircraft-induced magnetic fields: using a surveyed compass rose, a master site compass, a simulated rotation system, a portable magnetic standard, or conducting an air swing.
