I'm running the most recent Windows 10 update and the date and time that is usually on the bottom right of the taskbar doesn't show anymore. I searched through the settings but there doesn't seem to be an option to toggle it back on.
Go to c:/Users/your name/Desktop... Click View on the top menu, click Options. In the dialog box that should pop up. Click "Show hidden folders and files" If that brings your icons back, select them all, select properties, then uncheck "hidden." Worked for me when I did something weird.
Windows utilizes an icon cache for desktop icons in order to speed up displaying the desktop and all shortcuts on it. Sometimes that cache gets messed up. Most of the time this can be solved by a simple right-click on the desktop itself -> "Refresh".
The icons have disappeared from the desktop and also from the taskbar. I don't know what is the problem. I have had this problem before. I reinstalled Windows and it was fine (just for a few days... before it happened again).
If you uncheck the option to have small buttons on the Taskbar, then that would increase the taskbar size and will display the date with the time on the notification area on the taskbar. You may follow these steps:
I've set up my clock in the system tray to show both time and date. But after a recent update the date is completely gone. I can only see time now. I checked the settings, they are exactly the same as before. I didn't touch anything.
21 Ιουν 2021 · The taskbar is too small to include the date when using small icons, so it gets hidden. That being said, based on your previous comment I think you'll also need to take the steps mentioned here to fix the clock not showing up even though it's turned on.
