28 Ιουν 2024 · The current study depicts the genetic architecture of common genetic variants on biological aging of nine human organ systems using multimodal data from 377,028 participants of European...
Aging can be defined as the time-related deterioration of the physiological functions necessary for survival and fertility. The characteristics of aging—as distinguished from diseases of aging (such as cancer and heart disease)—affect all the individuals of a species.
This article describes the changing global demographic profile and the effects of an aging society on the prevalence and incidence of periodontal diseases. We review the definitions of normal and successful aging, the principles of geriatric medicine and the highlights of biological aging at cellular, tissue and systems levels.
12 Δεκ 2019 · The hallmarks of aging are specific biological mechanisms that drive the rate of biological aging. Emerging research reveals that these different mechanisms are strongly interconnected and, therefore, impairment in one mechanism involves the others.
24 Μαΐ 2024 · Major physiological features of aging include NAD + loss, telomeres attrition, mitochondrial dysfunction, stem cell exhaustion, disabled macro-autophagy, DNA damage, protein balance loss, inflammation, dysbiosis, deregulated nutrient sensing, and altered cellular communication.
21 Ιουν 2023 · Identifying reliable and robust biomarkers of age is critical for the accurate risk stratification of individuals and exploration into antiageing interventions. Numerous potential biomarkers of ageing have been proposed, spanning from molecular changes and imaging characteristics to clinical phenotypes.
