12 Νοε 2010 · Chelsea Opera presented a spare, affecting production of Tom Cipullo’s “Glory Denied” on Thursday evening at St. Peter’s Church.
Glory Denied - Synopsis Glory Denied has four singing roles. Jim and Alyce Thompson are each played by two singers. Thus, young Alyce presents the character as Jim remembers her from letters written long ago. Older Alyce is the person she has become since his capture.
Tom Cipullo’s 2007 opera, about the longest-held prisoner of war in American history, returns to the company in the New York première of the chamber-sized arrangement for nine instruments.

16 Νοε 2015 · New York City’s Chelsea Opera has now mounted Tom Cipullo’s Glory Denied for the second time. It’s a fine work that deserves further exposure. As Jim’s ordeal dragged on, his wife Alyce never got confirmation from the Army as to whether he was alive or dead.
