Objectives. After this chapter, you should be able to. interpret the properties of elements that are important for life from the periodic table. understand why and how atoms form bonds. draw Lewis dot and line structures to represent chemical bonds. What is life? Why is an elephant alive but a table inert?
2 ημέρες πριν · A chemical bond is an interaction that holds molecules and compounds together by the sharing or exchanging of electrons. When an atom comes into proximity to another atom and its valence (outer) electrons are attracted to the positive (nuclear) charge of the other atom, a bond between the two atoms can be formed.
Interestingly, chemists and biologists measure bond strength in different ways. Chemists measure the absolute strength of a bond (the theoretical strength) while biologists are more interested in how the bond behaves in a biological system, which is usually aqueous (water-based).
21 Νοε 2023 · A chemical bond is an attraction between two or more atoms, and is what forms a chemical. This is an electrostatic attraction - an attraction between positive and negative charges.

Chemical bonds are defined as attractive forces between atoms that hold those atoms together to form either molecules or compounds. The term "molecules" is very broad and refers to any substance that contains greater than or equal to 2 chemically bound atoms.
Definition: What is a Chemical Bond? Chemical bonds are forces that hold the atoms together in a molecule. They are a result of strong intramolecular interactions among the atoms of a molecule.
