These notes explain the Cherubim (Cherubs) and Seraphim (Seraphs) that we encounter in the Bible. We ignore speculations and assertions that have no Biblical support.

4 Ιαν 2022 · Seraphim and cherubim are mentioned in close connection with the throne and glory of God. Since seraph simply means “fiery,” it may be a description of an angel rather than a separate kind. The cherubim and seraphim are generally described as other-worldly creatures.
17 Μαΐ 2021 · Consider that the office of cherubim was to be held by Israel — the children of the flesh according to Paul in Romans 9. However, Paul argues that the children of the flesh are not guaranteed to become children of the promise who were to inherit eternal life.
7 Φεβ 2016 · The identification of cherubim as winged humans, whether adults or children, found early expression in Jewish and Christian visual art. For example, an illuminated Hebrew manuscript from northern France, dated to 1277–1286, shows the tabernacle ark cherubim as childlike creatures with six wings each, as influenced by Isa 6:2 [Figure 1].
