The Chesapeake Bay Bridge–Tunnel (CBBT, officially the Lucius J. Kellam Jr. Bridge–Tunnel) is a 17.6-mile (28.3 km) bridge–tunnel that crosses the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay between Delmarva and Hampton Roads in the U.S. state of Virginia. It opened in 1964, replacing ferries that had operated since the 1930s.

The Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel is not the longest bridge in the world. That honor belongs to the Danyang-Kunshan Grand Bridge, at over 102 miles long. It is the fourth longest bridge in the United States. The Lake Pontchartrain Causeway is the longest in the country, followed by two other bridges in Louisiana.
Not to be confused with the Chesapeake Bay Bridge in Maryland, the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel is a total of 23 miles long from end to end — counting the bridges, tunnels, and approach spans. It usually takes no more than 30 minutes or so to drive the entire Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel route.
