Chicago Police and Firefighter Training Academy (CPFTA) courses are for juniors and seniors. Students in this citywide program meet after school every Tuesday and Wednesday during the school year. CPFTA recruits and trains up to 125 public and non-public high school students each year.

The Cook County Sheriff’s Police Academy is an Approved Basic Law Enforcement Officers Training Academy with the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board.
This course gives community members a first-hand experience of the Chicago Police Department training. All instructors in the program are Chicago Police Department employees. The course is held once a week for 10 weeks for 3-hours each week at the Education and Training Academy.
