3 Νοε 2020 · Liver lipid accumulation is a hallmark of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), broadly associated with insulin resistance. Inositols (INS) are ubiquitous polyols implied in many physiological functions. They are produced endogenously, are present in many foods and in dietary supplements.

Choline is used for the synthesis of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine (1), and is also involved in methyl-group metabolism, particularly in the liver, because it is a major dietary source of methyl groups via its irreversible oxidation to betaine and the subsequent synthesis of S -adenosylmethionine (2) (Figure 1).
10 Φεβ 2023 · Choline is essential for healthy liver function, and research links choline deficiency to fatty liver disease. There is no evidence to suggest that choline can reverse fatty...
29 Σεπ 2024 · Choline supplements can be helpful for people with low dietary intake, pregnant people, and those at risk for liver damage. Pregnant people should consult a healthcare provider before starting choline to ensure they take the right amount.
Rodents fed choline-methionine-deficient diets not only develop fatty liver, but also progress to develop fibrosis and hepatocarcinoma. This review focuses on the role of choline in liver function, with special emphasis on the epigenetic mechanisms of action.
