Chordomas are cancerous and sometimes fatal tumors. In the United States, the median survival rate is currently seven years. At 5 years, the total survival rate is 68 percent; At 10 years, the rate is 40 percent; Chordoma prognosis is generally determined by the outcome of the tumor removal surgery.

Results: Four hundred and forty-two patients were identified with a mean age of 62.7 years. Most tumors presented regional invasion at diagnosis (43.2%). Mean overall survival was 124.7 months. No significant difference in terms of overall survival was found between surgery alone and surgery associated with radiotherapy.

After surviving 5 years, the hazard ratio (HR) of patients older than 60 years old decreased from 1.33 to 1.24, that of patients with a tumor size between 5 and 10 cm decreased from 1.61 to 1.52 and that of patients with distant metastasis decreased from 3.30 to 1.09.
