The share of the population that is Christian in sub-Saharan Africa climbed from 9% in 1910 to 63% in 2010, while in the Asia-Pacific region it rose from 3% to 7%. We report on some of the major findings of the new World Christian Encyclopedia, 3rd edition (Edinburgh University Press, 2019), including the fall and rise of the world's Christian population, the continued shift of Christianity to the Global South, the decline of religious liberty, and complicating trends in mission.
